WILLIAM APPLETON was a convict who was buried in an unmarked grave at St. John’s Cemetery, Parramatta on 28 March 1792. It is not clear who he was, as there were no convicts by this name transported prior to March 1792. He may have been convict WILLIAM HATHERTON per Britannia (1791) or his first name may not have been correctly recorded either, which would widen up the possibilities even further regarding. Further research required.
