MARY SMITH was a convict who was buried in an unmarked grave at St. John’s Cemetery, Parramatta on 27 March 1792. There were many convicts named MARY SMITH who arrived in the colony prior to March 1792, including MARY SMITH per Lady Penrhyn (1788), MARY SMITH per Lady Juliana (1790) and another two convict women by that name who arrived on the Pitt (1792) just one month before this MARY SMITH passed away. Further research required to determine exactly which MARY SMITH was buried at St. John’s in March 1792.
