His identity is not clear as there were numerous convicts with the same name who arrived in the colony prior to this burial date including First Fleet convict JOHN WILSON per Alexander (1788), Second Fleet convict JOHN WILSON per Surprize (1790), two Third Fleet convicts named JOHN WILSON per Albemarle (1791), two more Third Fleet convicts JOHN WILSON per Atlantic (1791) and JOHN WILSON per Britannia I (1791), and a JOHN WILSON per Pitt (1792).
