JAMES BUTTS was a convict who was buried in an unmarked grave at St. John’s Cemetery, Parramatta on 10 March 1792. His exact identity is not yet clear, as there were a number of individuals transported prior to March 1792 who had a very similar name including; JAMES BUTT per Britannia (1791); Old Bailey convict JAMES BETTS per Albemarle (1791); and even Old Bailey convict WILLIAM BUTTS per Neptune (1790). Further research required.
