ISAAC SMITH was a convict who was buried in an unmarked grave at St. John’s Cemetery, Parramatta on 16 March 1792. His identity is unclear as there were two convicts named ISAAC SMITH who had arrived in the colony prior to March 1792: ISAAC SMITH per Active (1791) and ISAAC SMITH per Britannia (1791). Further research required to determine which ISAAC SMITH was registered in the St. John’s burial records. On 30 March 1792, the name ISAAC SMITH was recorded in the burial register again and crossed out with no explanation. Perhaps the individual buried on 16 March was accidentally entered into the register twice.
