DR. DANIELLE THYER is an historian and completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2016. Her thesis, Reporting the “Unvarnished Truth,” examined the rise of undercover investigative journalism in nineteenth-century New York City.
An experienced tertiary educator of American history and Australian history, Dr. Thyer has taught courses at both the University of Sydney and Australian Catholic University ranging from crime history and urban history, as well as immigrants and refugees in Australia to nineteenth-century American history courses on sex, scandal, abortion and the press, civil war, and the making of America.
Dr. Thyer’s expertise includes the history of the press, nineteenth-century history, history of scandal, urban history, and the history of New York City. She has contributed to The St. John’s Cemetery Project’s first feature collection “St. John’s First Fleeters” and The Female Factory Online.
